My name is George Truong. I am an extremely passionate software engineer, web developer, and entrepreneur. Currently, I am based in the Los Angeles, California area.
Despite graduating from the University of California, Irvine with a liberal arts degree, I ended up in computer programming after realizing accounting and finance was not the right path for me. Armed with a basic foundation of computer science and a passion for technology, I have taught myself software development through experience in challenging projects at work, cutting edge programming books, and tons of Google searches.
I have about three years working experience in web application development. Though I have primarily worked on backend development in LAMP with PHP, I have done several projects on the Microsoft ASP.NET framework in C#. Besides backend development, I have done extensive frontend projects using Javascript frameworks such as jQuery and Prototype / Scriptaculous to improve user experience.
The great thing about programming is that there is always something new to learn and improve upon. Outside of normal office hours, I have been experimenting with Ruby on Rails and Python / Django for “fun.” My current fascination has been developing iPhone applications and working to improve my Objective-C knowledge.
